Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Author Guidelines

Social Science Communications (SSC) is an interdisciplinary, peer-reviewed journal dedicated to advancing research and discourse across the full spectrum of the social sciences. Our goal is to provide a platform for innovative, high-quality, and impactful research that addresses critical social issues in the modern world. We invite authors to submit original, well-researched articles that contribute meaningfully to the academic and policy debates in areas including but not limited to sociology, economics, political science, psychology, anthropology, and social policy.

Manuscript Submission

All manuscripts must be submitted electronically through the journal’s online submission system. To begin the submission process, please visit the Social Science Communications website and create an account if you do not already have one.

Please ensure that your manuscript complies with the following submission guidelines:

  • File Formats: Manuscripts should be submitted in Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) or LaTeX format.
  • Word Limit: The manuscript should be between 4,000 and 8,000 words, including references, tables, and figures. Shorter or longer submissions may be considered depending on the nature of the content.
  • Abstract: Each submission must include an abstract of 150–250 words summarizing the key points of the paper, including the main research question, methodology, findings, and implications.
  • Keywords: Include 4-6 keywords that represent the core themes of the manuscript.
  • References: The manuscript should be formatted according to the citation style outlined below.
  • Figures and Tables: Figures and tables should be included in the manuscript, but they must be placed within the text where appropriate. High-resolution images and properly formatted tables should be provided separately.

Manuscript Structure

Manuscripts should follow a clear and logical structure. The following is the recommended format:

Title Page

- Manuscript title (concise and informative)

- Full names, affiliations, and contact details of all authors

- Corresponding author’s contact information (email address and mailing address)

- Acknowledgments (if applicable)

Abstract
A concise summary of the article, highlighting the research objectives, methodology, main findings, and implications. It should not exceed 250 words.

Keywords
A list of 4–6 keywords or phrases that reflect the main themes of the manuscript.

Main Body of the Manuscript
The body of the manuscript should be divided into sections and subsections to ensure clarity. The following sections are recommended:

- Introduction: Clearly state the research question, the problem being addressed, and the objectives of the study. Provide an overview of the relevant literature and highlight the gap your research aims to fill.

- Literature Review: Offer a comprehensive review of existing research related to your topic. Discuss key theories, debates, and methodologies used in the field.

- Methodology: Describe the research design, data collection methods, and analytical techniques used. Be transparent and precise so that the study can be replicated.

- Results/Findings: Present the findings of your study in a clear and organized manner. Use tables, figures, or charts to support your arguments where appropriate.

- Discussion: Analyze and interpret the results. Discuss the implications of your findings in relation to the existing literature and your research question.

- Conclusion: Summarize the key points of your research, highlighting its significance and limitations. Suggest potential directions for future research.

- References: All citations in the manuscript should follow the IEEE citation style. References should be formatted consistently throughout the paper. Please ensure that every citation in the text is included in the reference list and vice versa.

 Peer Review Process

All submissions to Social Science Communications undergo a rigorous double-blind peer review process. This means that both the authors and the reviewers remain anonymous to each other. Reviewers will evaluate the submission based on its originality, methodological rigor, significance to the field, and clarity of writing.

After the review process, authors will receive feedback from the reviewers along with a decision about the manuscript. The possible decisions are:

  • Accept: The manuscript is accepted for publication without any further revisions.
  • Minor Revisions: The manuscript requires minor revisions before it can be accepted for publication.
  • Major Revisions: Substantial changes are required before the manuscript can be reconsidered for publication.
  • Reject: The manuscript does not meet the journal’s standards for publication.

Please be prepared to revise your manuscript based on the feedback provided by the reviewers. Authors are required to submit a revision letter, outlining how each of the reviewer’s comments has been addressed.

 Ethical Considerations

Social Science Communications upholds the highest standards of academic integrity. By submitting to our journal, authors agree to abide by the following ethical guidelines:

  • Plagiarism: Authors must ensure that their work is free from plagiarism, including self-plagiarism. Proper citation of sources is essential.
  • Originality: Manuscripts must present original research and not have been previously published or simultaneously submitted elsewhere.
  • Data Transparency: Authors must be transparent about their data and methods, making them available upon request. If applicable, authors should follow data sharing policies.
  • Conflict of Interest: Authors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest that could affect the interpretation of their research.
  • Human and Animal Rights: Research involving human or animal subjects must comply with ethical guidelines and have appropriate ethical approval.

 Copyright and Open Access

By submitting to Social Science Communications, authors retain copyright over their work but grant the journal a non-exclusive license to publish the article. The article will be published under an open access model, ensuring that it is freely accessible to all readers worldwide.

 Submission Fee

There are no submission or publication fees for articles submitted to Social Science Communications.

 Final Checklist

Before submitting your manuscript, please ensure the following:

  • The manuscript is written according to the guidelines outlined above.
  • All authors are properly credited and listed in the correct order.
  • The abstract and keywords are included.
  • The manuscript adheres to the IEEE citation style.
  • All figures, tables, and supplementary materials are properly formatted and included.
  • The manuscript is free from plagiarism and ethical concerns.
  • The corresponding author’s contact information is accurate.
