Call for Editors and Reviewers for Arts & Aesthetics

Arts & Aesthetics is an emerging academic journal dedicated to advancing critical discourse and scholarship in the fields of art, visual culture, and aesthetic theory. As we embark on this exciting journey, we are seeking passionate and dedicated individuals to join our editorial and review teams. We invite applications for the following roles:

 Editors

We are looking for accomplished scholars and experts to serve on our editorial board. Editors will play a key role in shaping the journal’s intellectual direction, ensuring the quality and integrity of the content, and overseeing the review and selection of manuscripts for publication.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide guidance on the journal's thematic focus and editorial direction.
  • Oversee the peer review process and ensure that submissions meet the highest scholarly standards.
  • Review and provide constructive feedback on submitted manuscripts.
  • Assist in the identification of emerging trends in the field and propose special issues or themed sections.
  • Collaborate with fellow editors to make final decisions on manuscripts for publication.
  • Support the journal’s mission of promoting global perspectives in art and aesthetic scholarship.

 Criteria for Editors:

  • A strong academic background in art history, philosophy of aesthetics, visual culture, design studies, or related disciplines. A doctoral degree or equivalent professional experience is highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated expertise in one or more of the following areas: contemporary and classical art, aesthetic theory, cultural studies, architecture, design, or digital arts.
  • Previous editorial experience, particularly in peer-reviewed academic journals, is an advantage.
  • A collaborative mindset and the ability to work effectively with colleagues from diverse backgrounds and disciplines.
  • A passion for advancing scholarship and promoting new perspectives in the field of arts and aesthetics.

 Reviewers

We are also inviting applications for reviewers who will play an essential role in maintaining the quality of submissions to Arts & Aesthetics. Reviewers will be responsible for critically evaluating manuscripts, offering constructive feedback to authors, and making recommendations for publication.

 Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct impartial and thorough reviews of submitted manuscripts within your area of expertise.
  • Provide detailed, constructive, and timely feedback to authors, helping them refine their work for publication.
  • Recommend whether a manuscript should be accepted, revised, or rejected based on its scholarly merit and alignment with the journal’s scope.
  • Maintain confidentiality throughout the review process and uphold academic integrity.

 Criteria for Reviewers:

  • A deep understanding of art, aesthetics, or related fields, with a focus on areas such as visual arts, design theory, cultural criticism, or philosophy.
  • A scholarly or professional background in art history, visual culture, philosophy, or related fields is highly desirable.
  • An ability to critically assess the quality, originality, and relevance of academic work, and to offer constructive suggestions for improvement.
  • Experience with the peer review process is preferred but not required.
  • A strong commitment to the integrity and development of scholarly work in the arts and aesthetics.
